In the "Artist's Way", Julia Cameron describes something she calls "restocking the well." Julia says that artists need to get out of their studio and experience life to find really good ideas.
I'm alway struck by the dichotomy of needing to spend countless hours in my studio and the need to get out and go exploring to get the ideas in the first place.
Kauai was ranked high up on "the most beautiful places I've ever been" list and did wonders for restocking the well. In addition to seeing whales and dolphins and hiking up some treacherous and painfully beautiful trails, I came home refreshed, re-booted and with a brain full of ideas.
